Sizing the table to the door
A 70 cm round often serves couples better than a rectangle that forces chairs into the rail. We mock up footprints with tape on site before anyone orders timber.
Folding and nesting pieces earn space on weekdays. When Sunday guests arrive, an extension leaf or a second folding table from the store cupboard restores capacity without permanent clutter.
Materials that forgive heat and wine
Powder-coated metal frames stay cooler than dark resin in July. Timber tops need oil suited to outdoor UV; we avoid untreated pine that warps after the first humid autumn.
Cushions store indoors after dinner — Valencia evening humidity softens foam overnight if left out. We design a slim bench with a lift seat when indoor cupboard space is scarce.

Street noise rises after 21:00. Orient chairs toward the quieter side wall and keep soft textiles for conversation, not volume battles.

- Count how often you host more than two people outdoors.

Service without a kitchen hatch
Most Valencia flats lack a pass-through to the balcony. We place a narrow sideboard or wall shelf near the door so plates land safely, and keep the hottest cooking indoors.
Electric grills appear in client briefs often; we only place them where cable runs are legal and smoke will not enter upstairs windows. Charcoal is rarely neighbour-friendly on tight stacks.
